Turning fishmeal waste heat into green process energy

Pelagia’s fishmeal factory in Måløy, Norway, installed three high-temperature heat pumps in 2024 that supply up to 8 tons of steam per hour with a COP of 3.5–7. The system replaces fossil steam, cuts CO₂ emissions by 4,000 tons annually, and showcases the technical feasibility of electrifying industrial heat processes.
