The pilot project “Aktiv-Stadthaus“ proves that Plus Energy* apartment buildings can be realized even in densely built urban environments. Locally available renewable energy sources like waste heat from a nearby sewer and solar energy are used to generate heat and power. The tenants are actively involved in the energy concept through a digital application “User Interface” which allows them to keep track of their own energy consumption.

The average seasonal performance factor (SPF) of the heat pump system including all auxiliary units is SPF = 4,3 (measured data from 2016/17). Due to hot water demand the average SPF in the summer months numbers 3,5. Whilst during the heating period with a share of heat demand for underfloor heating the average SPF rises up to 4,5.
