Smart District Heatin

The project aims to utilize old, unused piping from the defunct district heating system. One pipe is used to bring river water to the buildings where water/water heat pumps is installed, while the second pipe will return the water to the river. The investment will therefore consist of the pumps at the river and individual heat pumps at customer locations. This is by far the most cost effective way to restart district heating.

Remarks: The failure of the district heating system has caused users to revert to fosil fuel burning, increasing air polution. By repurposing the pipework to heat pump solution, fosil fuel burning in homes and offices will be eliminated. New system will have even higher environmental impact than previous district heating system when it was operational, as it was also using fosil fuel as a heat source.
