The city of Nijmegen is the European Green capital of 2018 and is very active in stopping the use of natural gas for heating of residential houses and warm water preparation. Their purpose is stopping the use of natural gas for heating and warm water preparation, effectively reducing the co2 output to 0 when using green power.

Remarks: Governments are not well informed about the potential of the heat pump. Often not the best solutions are chosen, such as biomass based city heating or hydrogen. Heat pumps are a more efficient and cost effective solution, but if governments don’t know this, wrong choices are made.
